Spray cooling is a method used in manufacturing processes to rapidly cool hot surfaces. This method involves the use of a sprayer nozzle to spray coolant onto the plain surface to be cooled. The coolant evaporates rapidly on contact, dissipating heat energy. Spray cooling can be used in a variety of industrial processes including open die forging, forging and extrusion.

For open die forging and forging processes, spray cooling can be used for quenching hardening and for cooling dies and dies to prevent overheating and prolong tool life. For extrusion processes , sprayers are often used to cool the hot material to be pressed.
Spray cooling System come in a variety of designs, including low pressure, high pressure , and mist spray system . The configuration of a spray cooling system depends on the particular application, the material being cooled, the desired cooling rate , and can have a significant impact on the final product.
In simulation, QForm UK allows to maximize the approximation of real cooling conditions of such systems by means of a specially developed additional boundary condition.
