Diffusion saturation processes

Diffusion module QForm UK is designed for simulation of thermochemical treatment processes.

Processes can be conditionally divided into categories - saturation with a single component or multiple components. Examples of thermochemical treatment processes are given in the table.

Diffusion saturation processes

Saturation with one component

Saturation with several components

Nonmetals:

C - carbonization

N - nitriding

Si - siliconizing

B - boriding

Metals:

Cr - chromizing

Ni - nickelizing

Al - aluminizing

Nonmetals:

C&N - cyanidation / nitrocarburizing

Metals

QForm UK only supports saturation with one component.

Basic simulated processes:

- Saturation or de-saturation (for example, decarburization) of the surface layer with a diffusing element;

- Heat treatment considering the change in the concentration of the diffusing element.

To enable the module, you must activate the feature Diffusion in the Workpiece parameterstab of the initial data panel:

diffusion_01

The module allows simulation of thermochemical treatment processes in a chain of operations with inheritance of simulation results. Simulation is possible for problems both in 2D and 3D formulations. The diffusion saturation process is described by the non-stationary diffusion equation.

The module allows optimization of technological processes of thermochemical treatment, including:

- Parameter optimization of the thermochemical treatment operation mode in order to obtain the required distribution of the diffusing element near the surface;

- Parameter optimization of the heat treatment operation mode to obtain the required performance properties;

- Process temperature and duration adjustments in order to increase productivity.
