Ring rolling mills

During the ring rolling simulation in the Ring rolling module it is necessary to set the parameters of the ring rolling mill in the database. The list of parameters are shown in the figure below:

Parameters for mandrel:

Nominal load is the value of the load on the mandrel at which the maximum mandrel velocity is reduced.

Maximum load - the maximum value of load on the mandrel that must not be exceeded during the rolling process.

Maximum velocity at nominal load - the value of the mandrel linear velocity that cannot be exceeded during the rolling process.

Idle velocity - the value of the linear velocity of the mandrel before the contact with the ring.

Information

Idle speed for the mandrel is also used when 2 conditions are satisfied: the tool kinematics is defined through the ring rolling curve and the radial force is zero.

Velocity to lamination curve - the value of the linear velocity of the mandrel in contact with the ring until the initial point of the ring rolling curve is reached.

Parameters for the main roll:

Nominal torque - is the torque value on the main roll at which the maximum velocity of the roll is reduced.

Maximum torque - is the maximum torque value on the main roll that must not be exceeded during the rolling process.

Maximum rotational velocity at nominal torque - is the angular velocity value of the main roll that must not be exceeded during the rolling process.

Parameters for the guide rolls:

Maximum velocity - the linear velocity value of the guide rolls, that must not be exceeded in the process of rolling.

Maximum summary load - the value of the total load on both guide rolls that must not be exceeded during the process.

Parameters for the axial rolls:

Nominal load - the value of the load on the axial roll at which the maximum roll velocity is reduced.

Maximum load - the maximum load on the axial roll that cannot be exceeded during the process of rolling.

Maximum velocity at nominal load - the maximum value of linear velocity at the axial roll that cannot be exceeded during the rolling process.

Idle velocity - the value of linear velocity on the axial roll before the contact with the ring.

info

Information

Idle speed for axial rolls it is also used in cases where 2 conditions are satisfied: the tool kinematics is defined through the ring rolling curve and the radial force is zero.

Velocity to lamination curve - the value of the linear velocity of the axial roll in contact with the ring until the initial point of the ring rolling curve is reached.

Nominal torque - is the torque value on the axial roll at which the maximum velocity of the roll is reduced.

Maximum torque - is the maximum value of torque on the axial roll that cannot be exceeded during the rolling process.

For better stability of the rolling process simulation, and for the best fit of the simulation results to the experimental data, it is necessary to enter all the mill parameters.

important

Important

The mandatory parameters are: idle velocity and velocity to lamination curve for mandrel , idle velocity and velocity to lamination curve for axial rolls.

info

Information

When switching between Mandrel, Main roll or Axial roll tabs, when the parameter values are filled in, the velocity graphs will be displayed.
